Abstract: Physiotherapy and osteopathy have coexisted more or less harmoniously for many years, complementing each other to offer solutions to our patient's problems. The introduction of Osteopathy to the Spanish State contributed to the development of manual therapy in physiotherapy. With the advancement of physiotherapy in recent years and the rise of Evidence-Based Medicine, an increase in critical thinking, necessary in any profession, has emerged in recent decades. This scepticism and critical thinking have been spreading not only to the health sciences but in all areas of society. However, Osteopathy has followed more the precepts of tradition and the founder's maxim of keeping it pure. Critical voices have emerged from physiotherapy, sometimes not with the best constructive intention, and now Osteopathy is questioned and in some sectors of the profession, it is considered a pseudoscience and even a dangerous therapy. The objective of the paper is to clarify the context of how this situation has been reached and try to establish links to avoid polarized physiotherapy.
