Introduction
The Covid19 pandemic collapsed our health system and rehabilitation services were not exempt. The use of telerehabilitation and QR labels in our recommendation sheets could be an alternative for the follow-up of patients affected by SARS-CoV-2, reducing risks and preserving care capacity.
Objectives
To evaluate adherence to treatment, efficacy and patient satisfaction of two rehabilitation programs reinforced with the implementation of QR labels, one in person mode during hospitalization phase and another later at home through mixed modality (in person sessions and tele-rehabilitation).
Methodology
During the patient's hospitalization, physical therapy treatment was in person, and we delivered an exercise recommendation sheets with QR codes (link to videos to carry out the guideline in the absence of the physiotherapist). In addition, a group of patients continued with home rehabilitation in person mode or mixed with tele-rehabilitation. Clinical and functional data in addition to satisfaction + quality of life surveys were collected before and after the home rehabilitation program.
Results
167 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 between March-December 2020.
- 97% underwent treatment during hospitalization, 81% continued with the exercises at home.
- 75% of the patients presented post-COVID-19 syndrome, 44 performed tele-rehabilitation home treatment.
- 18 patients completed the study follow-up. 55% improved their level of dyspnea, 69.2% their functionality and 44.4% their autonomy. Adherence to the exercises was 95.4%.
Discussion
As some reviews suggest, tele- rehabilitation and online education can be the solution to situations in which attendance is not possible.
Conclusions
During the pandemic, tele-rehabilitation allowed us to treat our patients effectively and reduce risks for our professionals. The introduction of QR labels on our tip sheets was a useful tool to ensure better adherence.
94% of the patients were satisfied with the treatment.
