Abstract: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) effectively controls HIV replication but cannot eliminate the viral reservoir. However, as time with ART progresses, the reservoir appears to change and become enriched in defective proviruses that do not produce new viruses. Further studies are needed to characterize the reservoir in each person with HIV.
Abstract : El tratamiento antirretroviral (TAR) controla eficazmente la replicación del VIH, pero no puede eliminar el reservorio viral. Sin embargo, conforme avanza el tiempo con TAR, el reservorio parece cambiar y enriquecerse en provirus defectivos que no producen nuevos virus. Más estudios son necesarios para caracterizar el reservorio en cada persona con VIH.
