Abstract: Motor skills and sensory processing are key dimensions of child development and everyday participation. In children with atypical neurodevelopment, including autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and developmental coordination disorder, both motor difficulties and sensory processing differences have been described. However, the relationship between these dimensions remains unclear and may depend on the clinical profile, the outcome measures used and the context in which the child’s functioning is assessed.
Abstract : Las habilidades motoras y el procesamiento sensorial son dimensiones fundamentales del desarrollo infantil y de la participación en la vida cotidiana. En niños con neurodesarrollo atípico, como aquellos con trastorno del espectro autista, trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad o trastorno del desarrollo de la coordinación, se han descrito tanto dificultades motoras como diferencias en el procesamiento sensorial. Sin embargo, la relación entre ambas dimensiones no siempre es clara y puede depender del perfil clínico, del tipo de medida utilizada y del contexto en el que se evalúa la función del niño.
